5 Quality

To my surprise, I received my land plane earlier than promised. Understandably, there was some minor paint defects when it was shipped but I had some red paint already here so touching it up wasn't a problem. As far as the machine itself, WHAT A BEAST! I've not only used it on my 100 ft Lane but I also re-did my yard this past summer. Now the dirt doesn't spill over like rocks do and that's what made the land plane a perfect tool for the job. Worked just like a box blade and smoothed the dirt out right where I wanted it by lifting it up gradually. I'll be posting that job on my YouTube channel soon, check it out at The Sowers PAtch. Couldn't be happier with this purchase. Thanks Homestead Implements!!

5 Excellent USA build quality

Excellently built. Tough enough to handle ripping and grading a well compacted driveway of gravel and modified stone almost a mile long. Haven’t used it with dirt yet but I can’t imagine any problems if it can handle my driveway. Only improvement I would like for my purposes would be more weight to the entire land plane to help it dig into compacted stone better or a spot to hang weights. Highly satisfied with it overall tho.

This is an addendum to my previous review. After having and using the implement, I can say that as to everything other than the loose cutting edge bolts, I am very pleased. I have approximately 3/4s of a mile of driveway plus approximately the same amount of private road to maintain. This past spring's freeze, thaw, refreeze, rethaw cycle left it all rutted and pot holed. It took me about 3 hours to smooth it all out. When I was finished the road was smooth and the bone jarring potholes were gone and the gravel was well mixed with lots of rock on top. I am pleased, the neighbors are pleased and the UPS driver is pleased. The road has stayed in pretty good shape for 3 months so far, but I am looking forward to the opportunities I will have to use it in the future. I have since added a hydraulic top link and that makes using this even easier. Botton line, it is a quality product and it was money well spent.

4 Pinnacle Series 84" Land Plane

The land plane is very well made and fairly heavy in construction. The welds look good and should never be a problem. There are a lot of adjustments possible with this tool, so I am impressed. The depth of cut can be varied from very shallow to very aggressive and can be varied from side to side. I currently have mine set to cut about 1/4 inch deeper on the right side to help build a crown. It can also be adjusted to run backwards as the bars holding the cutting edges are drilled on both sides. I would have given it five stars plus but for one thing, none of the bolts holding the cutting edges on were tight. Three of them weren't even finger tight. I just happened to have noticed one of the heads being about an 1/8th of an inch high after about 20 minutes of use, so I checked to be sure. I used a 15/16s socket a 1 inch extension and a 15 inch ratchet and tightened them all as much as I could. Some were somewhat tight, none were as tight as they should have been. I would recommend that if you buy one you double check all bolts. I am going to keep an eye on them and maybe invest in a little lock-tite.
